Good to know
- The 15-hour test is a 4-week average.
- Small workplaces count too. The weekly paid holiday (Art. 55(1)) applies even with 4 or fewer employees (Decree Annex 1).
- Monthly salaries may already include it. The ₩2,156,880 monthly minimum (209 h) includes 8 holiday hours a week.
FAQ
Who gets weekly holiday pay in Korea?
Workers with 15 or more contracted hours a week (averaged over 4 weeks, Labor Standards Act Art. 18(3)) who attended every scheduled day that week (Enforcement Decree Art. 30). Part-timers included.
How is it calculated?
(Weekly contracted hours ÷ 40) × 8 hours × hourly wage, capped at 8 hours. 20 h/week at ₩10,320 = 4 hours = ₩41,280.
Does being late cancel it?
No. Being late or leaving early still counts as attending; only an unexcused absence on a scheduled day removes that week's holiday pay.
How much is it per month?
Weekly amount × about 4.345 weeks (365 ÷ 7 ÷ 12). For 20 h/week at ₩10,320 that is about ₩179,371.
What about 2027?
The 2027 minimum wage is ₩10,700 (MOEL Notice 2026-60): ₩85,600 a week at 40 hours, ₩42,800 at 20 hours.
